Office Cleaning Checklist for Dhaka Businesses

What a workplace cleaning contract should cover daily, weekly and quarterly, and the details that separate a well-run office from one that only looks clean.

Most office cleaning contracts fail quietly. Nothing dramatic happens; the standard simply drifts down over a few months until someone notices the washrooms. The fix is a written frequency schedule that everyone can check against, so drift becomes visible immediately.

Daily tasks

  • Workstations dusted, monitors and peripherals wiped
  • Bins emptied and re-lined at every desk and in meeting rooms
  • Reception, entrance glass and waiting area detailed before opening
  • Meeting room tables, chairs and whiteboards reset
  • Pantry counters, sink and appliance exteriors cleaned
  • Washrooms serviced in rounds, consumables refilled, floors mopped
  • Floors vacuumed or mopped throughout
  • Lift interiors, lobby and main stairwell
  • Spillage response during working hours

Weekly tasks

  • Glass partitions and internal doors polished
  • Skirting boards, switchboards and door frames
  • Chair bases, castors and desk undersides
  • Pantry fridge interior and microwave interior
  • Fire exits, back stairwells and storage rooms
  • Washroom descaling of taps, basins and fittings

Monthly tasks

  • High-level dusting: light fittings, AC vents, cable trays, ledges
  • Upholstered chair and sofa vacuuming in reception areas
  • Interior window glass and blinds
  • Deep floor scrubbing in high-traffic zones
  • Waste room and bin store deep clean

Quarterly and periodic

  • Carpet hot-water extraction, or encapsulation for fast return to service
  • Lobby marble or stone floor polishing
  • Exterior facade and high-level glass cleaning
  • Water tank cleaning and disinfection
  • Pest control inspection and treatment
  • Full washroom deep clean including grout and drains

The details that actually distinguish a good contract

Colour-coded equipment. Washroom cloths must never touch a pantry counter. Ask to see the colour system.

Washroom rounds, not one clean. A washroom serving two hundred people cannot be cleaned once a day. It needs servicing rounds with a signed frequency chart.

A named supervisor. Someone who signs the daily checklist and is accountable when standards slip.

Absence cover. The contractor should arrange replacements, not call you to say nobody is coming.

A monthly audit. A short written report against the agreed scope, plus a moment to adjust the scope as your needs change.

Consumables tracking. Unusual consumption is often the first sign of a leaking cistern or a propped-open door.

Scheduling around your business

Most Dhaka offices settle on a small daytime attendant presence for washrooms, pantry and spillages, combined with a larger crew before opening or after close. Restaurants need post-service kitchen work late at night. Showrooms want glass and floors finished before the first customer. Build the roster around your hours, and put it in the contract.

What to measure

Three things tell you whether a contract is working: washroom condition at four in the afternoon rather than nine in the morning, the state of the areas nobody looks at (back stairwells, waste rooms, under desks), and whether staff have stopped complaining. If all three are good, the contract is being delivered.

Questions about this topic

It depends on floor area, footfall and the number of washrooms far more than on headcount. A typical mid-size Dhaka office runs one or two daytime attendants plus a larger overnight crew. A survey is the only honest way to size it.
Both, usually. Washrooms, pantry and spillages need daytime attention; floors, glass and deep work are better done before opening or after close so staff and customers never see the operation.
